Time. Truths. Hearts.

Let me hear you call my name.

Well, we meet again.

I'm Alexa, but you already know that. However, you might call me Lexi, which is cool. Like me, cool that is. I make my own friendship bracelets like it's my job. But it's not. I work at a seasonal restaurant. I have an iPhone and we all know that makes me superior or something. Oh yeah, I'm like 21 or something like that. I love photography and have a Nikon D60... which I don't use. What more could you want from me? Just read.

More than words.

You know you love me, too.

First Draft: Song
Monday, March 16, 2009
A melodious song drifted through my dream as I slept my night away. It weaved itself through my veins; it wrapped its soft, caressing hands around my heart. It flooded my body with warmth, spreading to my fingers and toes. Then I woke up and it was gone; it stranded me within a second. There was no moment’s hesitation. I was alone and wanting for more.

My hands went to my face. I found tears streaming down my cheeks like cool rivers. My warmth, my happiness had vanished; it had been stolen from me. Damn the gods, how could they do this to me? I bit my lip to choke down a sob. I was alone. I tried to make it less painful. I pulled my legs into my arms and hugged them to my body. I let the tears silently fall as I mourned the loss of my beautiful song.

I remained awake for the remainder of the night. The cold crept up on me, and I found myself shivering. I tried to placate my mind by drawing the blankets up around me, but they failed to give me the warmth I desired. I watched silently through my blankets as the sun began to rise.

The burnt orange crept its way up my photo-ridden walls, casting deep shadows on my floor. The photos on my wall seemed twisted and distorted; frightening me. My heart raced, banging against my rib cage. It felt like it was threatening to burst out of my chest. I threw my blanket over my head to avoid the darkened, taunting faces. I rocked back and forth hoping to preserve my sanity. I prayed for my gods to come save me from this agony. I was in my own prison cell, with torture devices everywhere I turned.

A while after my heart calmed. I watched as my blanket filled with light as it seeped in through the tiny holes. I wiped away my fresh tears and lifted the blanket off of my body. The light rushed to my eyes, causing me to shy away from it and throw back on the blanket. I slowly opened my eyes for a second time, and squinting into the light I lifted back the blanket; I tried to blink back the pain.

My eyes adjusted, leaving them to roam the empty room. I was the last living thing in this room. My heart ached for my song, longed not to be alone. I missed the companionship it promised and the love it gave me.

I let out a deep sigh and crawled out of bed and onto the floor. There I found a black case beneath my bed. I pulled it out of the darkness and into my lap. I slowly unlocked the hinges; I revealed my instrument.

I laid it out onto my lap and studied it. Long ago I had used it to make something of myself; long ago I had used it to capture a song. Now as I stared down at it, I looked at it with disgust. It had led me only to pain, only to loss. It had promised me love, it had promised me joy. Oh why had it been so cruel?

I threw it back into the box and slammed it shut. I threw it back into the darkness, back into the black depths. I wished I could crawl into my own black haven. I wished I could be sheltered away from the light. I wished I could have lived within my song, that beautiful song.

I sat by my bed, cursing the light, cursing my gods, and even cursing my song. How could it have left me, my beautiful one? I grew angrier and angrier until it consumed me. There was no pain only emptiness, like the rest of my life. I stood up and looked at those that tormented me; those smiling people. I lifted my hand up to one of the pictures there and tore it down.

I ripped my room to shreds. Nothing was left, except a bed and a comforter. I collapsed onto it and pulled the covers onto my head. I hugged my body close to my heart, that beating thing keeping me alive. If I could get rid of it, I could sleep forever. I could finally be with the one thing that had left me in this cruel world.

The thought festered; it grew and grew until the logic filled my senses. Yes, yes! I could be with my song, that beautiful humming, the warmth in and out of my body. I could bathe in its embrace. Oh I did miss its warm arms around my tired mind and body.

I crawled back onto my floor and reached beneath the bed. I wormed my way around there until I came in contact with the hard shell. I pulled it towards me, pulled my savior towards me. I opened the box once more and drew out my camera. I turned it towards me and took one last picture, one last proof of my soul, and then poof, as if I had disappeared within a flash.

I was a song now too. I was a soft humming noise. I floated and danced in the darkness, I searched high and low, and then there in the distance, I could feel my song. I could listen to it calling me.

“Oh how I missed you so,” I said as I wrapped her into my arms. My beautiful song, my beautiful girl was back into my arms.

Goodbye.
