Time. Truths. Hearts.

Let me hear you call my name.

Well, we meet again.

I'm Alexa, but you already know that. However, you might call me Lexi, which is cool. Like me, cool that is. I make my own friendship bracelets like it's my job. But it's not. I work at a seasonal restaurant. I have an iPhone and we all know that makes me superior or something. Oh yeah, I'm like 21 or something like that. I love photography and have a Nikon D60... which I don't use. What more could you want from me? Just read.

More than words.

You know you love me, too.

Love... Find Some

Everyone has that moment or moments in there life where they are sitting alone in their space, whether it be their bed, under a tree, up in the mountains or just laying under the stars when they question, “when will I find my love?” This forces them to contemplate what they look for in someone, what their future plans will be and whether or not their love will ever find their way to them. They start to fall into the cycle of life, the one that society has laid out for them, the one that the majority say is the “right” thing for them when they know, deep down that it is wrong. It’s so wrong that it makes them cry out, screaming, “why is this happening to me Why can’t I just be like them?” The truth of the matter is, is that they just haven’t found it yet. The one thing that propels them through life, the one special thing that screams out “I AM WHAT YOU NEED ” Sometimes it comes in the simplest of ways, just a simple relationship or idea that comes at the moment you realize that “this is it.” Or sometimes it falls out of the sky, like a piece of paper that fell out of car and it just has the right words in the right placement in the right font and just happens in the opportune moment.
One day Amélie was walking down the street, everything was normal and she was running her daily routine. She had gotten up at exactly six thirty two in the morning, walked into her bleached white bathroom with the navy blue shower curtain, navy blue spot rug, navy blue towels and green doors. Amélie always wondered why she had painted the doors green or kept everything blue, but it felt right to her and she never questioned her intuition. She ran her shower and used the same shampoo and conditioner she had been using for three years and washed herself in the same pattern as any other day. She then turned off the shower and brushed her teeth, did her hair and then her makeup. She then went out into her bedroom once again with its wooden floors, wooden armoire, cherry wood desk with her navy blue dell placed upon it, her canopy bed with white curtains and turned towards the north window with the same materialed window curtain as the bed. She sighed and got dressed in her jeans and t-shirt, socks and shoes and ran out the door, not eating her breakfast once again and headed for work. Normal. Completely mundane and totally Amélie. Little did she know, everyday was different in it’s own way, even if it didn’t feel like it, but this day was going to have a dramatic effect upon her life.
So as she was walking down the street, she stopped at the corner of Fourth Ave and Main Street waiting for the light to turn red, just like every morning. It finally turned red after the appropriate two minutes, except as she took the fourth step away from the south curb towards the north curb, she was thrown down to the ground by a heavy mass and a car horn blasting in her right ear. “Are you alright?” A voice asked as the pressure was released from her body. It sounded masculine, and the build appeared to be that of a man, also. “Y-yes, I’m fine.” She replied and took the hand that was extended towards her. “Are you sure? Is there anything I can get you?” The man asked. “I’m fine, thank you.” Amélie replied and smiled up at the man. He was blond haired and blue eyed. He was taller then her by about five inches and he was smiling, a nice nervous smile. He was tan, but a nice healthy tan. “Thank you again.” She repeated and offered her hand, “Amélie.” The guy smiled wider and placed his hand in hers. He didn’t just slip his hand into hers, and let her apply the pressure. This was a real handshake, one that she didn’t receive often from men. She always felt as though they were treating her as though she was frail and she felt as though it was ironic that he had just saved her life and he was treating her like she was strong and equal. “Mark,” he said, “and it was no problem. Would have been a waste of a person to have gotten smushed.” Amélie grinned and let go of his hand. “I have to go, but here,” she took out her business card, “let me take you out to coffee one day and thank you.”
“That would be delightful,” Mark replied and took the card. “Would you like me to walk you, I mean, wouldn’t want you to walk in front of another car, now would we?”
“That was a one time deal, I’m sure,” Amélie said laughing.
“I’ll believe that when I call you and hear your voice on the other end. So long, Amélie.” He said with a wave.
“Goodbye,” She replied and smiled one last time before walking on ahead.
All throughout her day while she was filing papers at her job at the Martin and Martin Law Offices, she thought of Mark and how she came so close to being run over. She wondered if that car would have even dreamed of stopping after it hit her, or if she’d be looking down from heaven and cursing out the man or woman behind the steering wheel. As she walked into Steve Martin’s office to give him a message, she found a stray paper on the floor. She bent over, picked it up and flipped it over. On the other side there were three simple words. “Love... Find Some.” Amélie smiled to herself, and for some reason felt compelled to keep the paper with her. She delivered her message to Steve and since she had finished all of her filing, offered her the afternoon off. Of course Amélie took the offer and went down and out to the street from the building and headed towards her favorite coffee shop.
“Funny that you should offer to buy me coffee and we wind up in the same place.” A voice said from behind Amélie. She turned around and came face to face with the beaming smile of Mark. She smiled herself and said hello. They chatted about the niceties and then offered to buy him that cup of coffee that sh had promised. He accepted and they took a seat in the corner of the coffee shop.
They chatted much of the late afternoon away and only really looked away from one another to look at the clock every few hours. Eventually the conversation took an odd turn as Mark started to say, “so I found this piece of paper on the street this morning, as did my friend...” Something inside Amélie stirred, but she wasn’t quite sure what it was. “And it’s so odd, because as my friend’s day progressed, he’s a doctor, he ran into a patient that he’s now swearing he adores...” Mark went off to detail his friend and this girl that he was “in love” with and such, when Amélie asked, “What did the paper say?”
“Oh it was three simple words. Love... Find Some. And what’s funny is that I met you. Well... I wouldn’t call throwing you down onto the ground as a conventional way of meeting you, but I met you.” He said smiling.
Amélie stared at him in disbelief. “I found that paper, too In my office, in the hallway, just laying there ” She took out the piece of paper and showed him.
“Imagine that.” He said with a curious look upon his face.
Amélie liked that face, and many of the other faces that she caught him making. He had one for when he was talking about light and airy things, one for when he was just chatting, one for when he was serious and one for when he was joking. She had picked up on all of these in just the few short hours she had been sitting with him and marveled at the fact that she had never been able to read anyone like that before.
“That’s truly crazy,” Mark added.
“I guess life is crazy. So what does this mean? That we fall magically in love? OH MY GOD, are you my knight in shining armor Do tell me you have a white stallion behind this place, that you ride it to work everyday ” Amélie said in a joking way.
“If it would make you agree to go on a date with me tomorrow night, I will run out of here and buy the whole suit of armor and the horse.” Mark said with a glint of something warm in his eyes.
Amélie smiled, something about him made her love to smile. “I would love to.”
In this case, the paper was left behind by a mischievous person who wanted to see what would become of these letters. They never knew the impact that they would have on the peoples’ lives or even could foresee that what the paper said was true. But the doctor and the patient, Mark and Amélie were both romantic and maybe a little foreseeable, but every single piece of paper impacted many people in many different ways. Some found the courage to tell the ones that they loved that they loved them, or it connected a son and mother. It allowed some people to connect with themselves and then therefore reach out to others, and may of them happened in unconventional ways, maybe mundane and cliched, but unconventional none the less. Maybe tomorrow you will find a magical piece of paper that makes you realize the important things in life, or you could just disregard your piece of paper, go on living oblivious to the simplicity and beauty of life and continue to get lost in the world or rushing around and worrying about fitting in with the crowd.

Goodbye.
